Thrice-damned spreadsheets are finally done. I am so glad that they're through.
On a slightly lighter note, however, here are the winners for my favorite last name and street name:
Street name: “Widgeon Way” (“Pirate's Point Road” comes in a close second, but “Widgeon Way” is just so much fun to say. Say it [...]

Amusing evidence of changing societal trends…

So I'm going through a name/address/gender/DOB list of people who've purchased hunting and fishing licenses here in AK as one of the random duties that I get assigned as part of my job. The idea is to delete duplicate addresses so each household only gets one of whatever it is we're sending out. [...]

Author's Note: This entry was written in between 30-second bouts of welcome-home kissing from Brian, so if you wish to have the full authentic experience, take 30-second breaks from reading every minute and a half (even if you're in the middle of a sentence).
Had a wonderful time in Anchorage – it was great to [...]
A uniquely Alaskan J&W quote…

BD: So, what're you working on?
Brian: I just got back from fixing these folks' wireless – their network froze.
BD: Did you figure out what was wrong with it?
Brian: No, I mean it had literally frozen. There was a mini-glacier in front of their server room door. Probably a roof [...]
Amusing thought inspired by a bowl of Top Ramen

Once upon a time, spices were used to disguise the taste of rotting meat to make it at least semi-eatable (if not actually edible).
Today, spices are used to disguise the fact that what we are eating has no real food value.
How very far we've come in the last couple of centuries, hm?
30-Second Movie Review

Went to see V for Vendetta as a kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing with Brian and Monica. I'd heard it was decent, but I've been incredibly disillusioned with the whole experience of “the movies” lately – which is probably directly related to both the fact that theatres have been charging more and more for [...]
Hares and hairs, March and grey…

Last night, when I looked in the mirror, I noticed something distressing. I have two grey hairs now.
It's not the first time I've found a grey hair, admittedly. I had my first one when I was 19 due to the incredibly stressful job I was working (and quit shortly thereafter – I figured [...]
Some "First Day of Spring"…

So yesterday dumped a good foot of snow on us…guess it doesn't want to be spring yet. On the other hand, today's fairly warm and most of the snow is melting, and really it feels more spring-ish than it has in some time. So maybe spring will get here after all. Given [...]
If you'll excuse my getting biblical for a moment…

For lo, the End Times are nigh, and the Last Days of the Earth shall be sooner than we think. An Abomination Unto the LORD has been spotted, and truly I say unto you, it beareth the name “Fat Free Half and Half”.
Foul Beast from the pits of Hell, I hereby banish you from [...]
So I bought my new car yesterday…

…and I'm so very happy with her. She's fun, she's got a nice peppy engine, she handles well, she rides smoothly, and she's got all these fun little extras. I'm completely in love with the xenon HID headlights – driving home from downtown yesterday, it was practically daylight in front of the car. [...]
