Snowing like crazy again today, so Brian and I decided to head to Costco (which is about a block away from J&W) for hot dogs for lunch. As we walk in the door, however, Brian suddenly goes “Oooooh!” and starts dashing towards the center of the store, leaving me scratching my head and wondering [...]

1] Waking up to an apartment that's roughly 59 degrees in temperature. It's cruel and unusual enough to have to get up while it's still dark out; getting up when it's dark and freezing cold both inside and outside is just inhumane. Fortunately our landlady was doing what she could to fix [...]

Holiday weekend!

Thanksgiving weekend was, as one might expect, pretty relaxing and fun. To balance out the three feet of snow we got earlier this month, it was beautiful and clear all weekend – as well as very, very cold. (Brian was disappointed – he'd wanted to go skiing but temperatures were in single digits [...]

I came in to work on Saturday because we (and by “we”, I mean “Wade and I”) had another set of submittals to do. Snowing like frelling crazy outside. The roads are getting pretty scary, too – in the lone hour Brian and I were gone for lunch, they went from about 40 feet visibility and roughly 40 mph on the highways to less than 20 feet visibility and about 25 mph (with that really frightening flat light [...]

Had those two back teeth pulled on Friday (hurrah for three-day weekends!). It wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared; after the first day or two I didn't even need ibuprofen, let alone the Percoset they prescribed (though I'm still going to keep it around in case I develop a dry socket or something). [...]

Big dreams…

So there's this band that many of you may or may not be familiar with, known as Nightwish. They've achieved moderate success in the U.S., but in Finland (their country of origin) and most of Europe they're international superstars. I've found the most accurate description of their style to be “Operatic Metal” – [...]

Everyone remember Bert, from Sesame Street?
I think he's started an online community.
I guess it's nice to know that not every fringe subgroup on the net is crazy and drama-filled…=D

The results of Alaska's gubernatorial election are disappointing, but unsurprising. Hurray for having a rabidly-anti-choice pro-abstinence-only-sex-education certainly-not-in-touch-with-reality woman for governor! I just hope she keeps that particular bit of her agenda to herself – Alaska has one of the best sex education systems in the country, which is incredibly necessary given our higher-than-average [...]
